SASSA SRD R350 Reconsideration Appeal
A reconsideration appeal for a SASSA SRD grant is a process in which an applicant for a SASSA grant files an appeal against the decision of the South African Social Security Agency as to why they have been disqualified from a SASSA grant.
If you are a South African citizen and a unique permit holder, you wish to receive a SASSA SRD grant. To support your family, you can then appeal for a grant to SASSA using a Revision Appeal.
This is possible if you have applied for a SASSA SRD grant and have been disqualified for no reason. But if you disagree with SASSA’s decision and consider yourself eligible for the SASSA SRD grant, you can file a reconsideration appeal.
If you file a reconsideration request, an ITSAA committee on behalf of the SASSA program will review your application and send you the committee’s decision within 60 days on whether you are eligible for a SASSA grant.

However, due to some factors like the high number of applications or holidays, etc., the appeal decision may take more than 60 days. You will notified via SMS as soon as ITSAA’s decision on your application is reserved.
What To Do After Reconsideration Appeals Decision Made?
The Independent Tribunal for Social Assistant Appeals (ITSAA) reviews the application carefully. After discussion in ITSAA, the committee gives you a decision on your application within 60 days.
If the reconsideration appeal for grants is successful, the ITSAA team will instruct SASSA to release the grant amount to you as soon as possible.
If your appeal is unsuccessful, SASSA will not provide you with any amount. But if you are still dissatisfy with the ITSAA committee’s decision and want to get the grant again, you can approach the Court.
How To Appeal against the SASSA Decision?
If your appeal against SASA grants is rejected, you are given another chance to appeal against ITSAA and SASSA again. If you are dissatisfied with the ITSAA’s decision and want your application reconsidered, you can file an SASSA reconsideration appeal using two methods. You can again apply for an “Internal appeal” on the official SASSA website using the “Internal appeal” option.
In addition, the second method is to file a reconsideration appeal against the SASSA decision in your nearest Court. You must do so within 60 days of receiving the SMS from ITSAA. If you file your application in Court, you must submit evidence that you are eligible for an SASSA grant, that the ITSAA’s decision is invalid, and that you are granted a pension by the SASSA.
