Documents Required For Application Process

  • You must have a copy of your South African ID card.
  • The baby must have a birth certificate and a South African identification number.
  • A photocopy of your salary slip, a copy of the pension form, the three-month bank statement, or any other evidence.
  • Also, if you have no job and are unemployed, You have to provide a letter from UIF.
  • If you have a foster child, you must take the need for paper permission from his parents or guardians.
  • You should have also provided the legal documents proving you are that child’s real caretaker.

How Much is the Child Support Grant in South Africa?

The SASSA will give the Child Support Grant monthly of R510 per child. If the child is over two, the maximum amount is R500 + 250, which is fixed. SASSA will give the Child Support Grant in Different Ways.

Eligibility Criteria For The Child Support Grant

  • Applicant must mainly be a Permanent resident and refugee citizen of South Africa
  • Both the applicant and the child should stay in South Africa
  • Must be the primary carer of the application child or children
  • Children and children should not be over 18 years of age. ‘
  • The applicant and spouse must meet the mean test requirements
  • if a child is cared for by a state institution that has not applied for a child support grant.
  • You cannot get this grant for more than six children who are not your biological or legally adopted children.

Application Procedure Of Child Support Grant

You can apply for an SASSA child support grant by filling out the application form at your nearest SASSA office or regional services Center. You must complete an affidavit in a standard SASSA format in the presence of a Commissioner of Oaths who is not a SASSA official. They will give you a receipt when you submit your application. In that receipt, you provided an application ID number, which is used for the grant amount received.

What To Do If Application Not Accepted

If your application is rejected by SASSA. It will provide a written letter stating the reasons for rejecting your application. If you disagree with the decision of SASSA, you can file a reconsideration appeal against this decision in the Ministry of Social Development of Natural Resources.

You have to file this appeal within 90 days of the rejection of the application. The Ministry of Social Development will set up an ITSAA Committee to review your application. The committee reviews your application in full and informs you of its decision whether your application is approved or not.
